Every day, we face challenges in our personal and professional lives. There are moments when things don’t go according to plan, and we feel helpless in those situations. While we grow up, we tend to expect our elders or other close relatives to make decisions on our behalf, but, this behavior persists throughout life for many. We often blame them when their decisions don’t produce the results we desire. For example, being admitted to the college of our choice or getting a high paying job.
While it’s easy to blame the circumstances, preparedness, resilience and faith in our abilities can help us overcome any obstacle in life.
“In school I was a Girl Guide and our motto was “Be Prepared.” I still live by this motto. I am always prepared to take charge when the need arises. I remember times when people looked up to me when making decisions, whether in my family or at work.Throughout my life, people have looked up to me as someone who is dependable, approachable, and the best person to go to for a word of advice. People made me what I am today – RESPONSIBLE. Consequently, they expected me to make decisions on their behalf. However, this created a dependency on me and I was blamed when things did not go well.
Eventually I realized my mistake and started letting people use their own brains. This led me to study psychotherapy, later psychometrics, and NLP. The knowledge gained has helped me have a deeper understanding of people and equipped me with the skills to help them.
My success is a result of discipline and focus on the bigger picture. Putting my trust in the capabilities of my clients and believing in my vision of inspiring one billion +people to become their best versions is what drives me.”
It is only a lack of self-confidence, persistence, and a desire to keep improving our skills that impedes us from succeeding. The easiest way to build self-confidence is to constantly improve yourself and accept failure as a stepping stone to success. Some people are intrinsically motivated while others need a gentle push to get going.
